Oasis International is a nonprofit, 501(c) (3), organization serving the African immigrant Community and the low-income neighborhood of West End, Elmwood, Upper Southwest Providence, Lower Southwest Providence, and Washington Park. Oasis International started in 1992, as an effort to identify and maintain an infrastructure for professional development for its members. Through the exchange of technical information, general business assistance, and the promotion of cultural activities, we are dedicated to long-term social exchange, cultural and economic development in our neighborhoods.
What Does Oasis International Inc. Do?
We advocate aggressively for having a sustainable economy in neighborhoods by building from within and enhancing human capacity. We promote economic literacy and credit counseling & award scholarships to Oasis Youth that are college bound students.
Oasis International’s Philosophy
We provide economic literacy and credit counseling for residents and well as support and engage the youth in activities that develop their skills and creativity, promoting social change, and civil engagement in the community as well. We teach to respect cultural heritage of our diverse community.
Youth coming together for the common purpose of acquiring, and sharing knowledge within their communities about life skills, education, leadership, and
diversity, in a safe and controlled
environment.

Mr. Akinfolarin has worked for Oasis for the past 30 years and is a founding member of the Organization. He has worked for 30+ years for DOT as a Resident Engineer and advocate for the African Community in RI. He gives countless hours to our Youth Leadership and Development programs.
Harold Omisore is the President of Oasis International and has served as board chair of the board for the past 13 years. Mr. Omisore is one of the founding members of the organization. Harold donates literally hundred of hours a year and contributes financially to the organization. Harold is a civil engineer and worked as a resident engineer for the Department of Transportation for 35 years before retiring in 2018. Harold is a board member of Mount Hope Baptist Community Church.
Ms. Onye has been a board member for the past 15 years and serves as Chair of the Youth Engagement Committee. Ms. Nkoli has a Masters Degree in Education and has been employed by the Providence School Dept. for the past 10 years and as an administrator in central administration for the past four years.
Mr. Adewusi has served on the board for the past 22 years. He is the past president of Nigerian Community Association of RI and is currently the treasurer of that organization. He holds a Masters Degree in Computer Technology and worked in the field for over 20 years. Mr. Adewusi has been employed by the State of RI as an IT Analyst for the past 4 years.
Afua S. Akoto is an Oasis Board of Director for the past 10 years but she grew up with the organization as a member and Oasis Young Professional team. Her membership with Oasis led her to participate in other community programs such as College Visions, which assisted inner city students with the college application process.
Mr. Mike Wreh is a member of Oasis Board and has served on the board for the past 10 years. Mike donates hours of his time to the organization. He has served on various committee for the past 3 years. Mike Wreh is a civil engineer and has worked as a TMC Manager for RI Dept. of Transportation for the past 30 years. He studied at Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island and has earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Degree.
Mr. Alexander Danso is President of African Community Leadership Forum (ACLF) of Rhode Island and a member of the Board for about 10 years. He received his professional education at Yale University with full scholarship in Mechanical Engineering.
As a resident of Pawtucket, he served as President of Ghana Association of Rhode Island for 18 years and serves on its board to-date.
Mrs. Oladapo has volunteered many hours to Oasis every year since 1999. Flora has been a dedicated volunteer Board member for Oasis. She gives her time graciously to our organization. She earned her education degree from Roger Williams College with Major in Business Management and Minor in Economics. She has worked at BNY Mellon Asset Services for the past 20 years as Tax Analyst before then with Combined Insurance. Her and her husband heads the Power of Prayer Ministry at their church and member of the Board of Elders. We could not provide the services we do without people like Flora.
